Your picture perfect autumn wedding

October brings falling golden and amber leaves, crisp and cosy weather and a fresh beginning after the haze of summer has come to an end; the perfect surroundings for a picturesque, autumnal wedding.

Summer is perceived as a perfect setting for your dream day, and in many cases it is. However, people often overlook the beauty of fall and the backdrop it can provide for your wedding. It can inspire everything from your colour scheme to your food menu.

Imagine warm hues of auburn intertwined with your favourite flora, beautifully centred on each guest’s table. A crackling hog roast filling the crisp air with an irresistible aroma and all of your loved ones gathered together to celebrate the union of yourself and your one true love.

Your wedding breakfast is a vital part of your big day, and so should be chosen with great consideration. A warming autumnal dessert is the perfect way to finish your meal. Our sticky date pudding will provide you and your guests with a comforting sweet treat before the evening’s celebrations…


Recipe:  Serves 4

You will need:

150gr – pitted and chopped dates

150ml – boiling water

125gr –  butter

125gr – sugar

125gr – self raising flour

2 eggs

A few drops of vanilla essence

Glace ginger – 1 ball thinly sliced into matchsticks



Pre heat the oven to 180 degrees C

Butter 4 ramekins

Pour the boiling water over the dates and allow to stand and swell for about 10 minutes

Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy and beat in the eggs one at a time, fold in the ginger, vanilla and sieved flour

Lastly fold in the dates and spoon the mixture into the ramekins

Bake for 20-25 minutes or until firm and serve with butter scotch sauce
