Here at EJ Catering, we think it’s important that our clients know the characters behind the planning so over the next couple of months we will be introducing you to the various team members who all support the chef’s in executing our vast array of events.
Firstly, we’d like to introduce you all to our wonderful office manager, Laura!
What is your role at EJ Catering?
I’m the office manager which involves answering the phone and taking enquiries, discussing event and wedding ideas with our clients and putting quotes together. I’m also responsible for ordering all of the hire items and kitchen equipment that get to delivered to the venues. I’m usually the main point of contact for all of our brides once they have finalised their menus with Emma. I manage the rota’s for the waiting staff to make sure we have the right staff at each event. If you can imagine as an outside caterer we have to take everything we need with us, so the day before a big event I will be packing together tea, coffee, salt & peppers, staff uniform, display items and our all important ‘gig sheet’ which contains all of the information for that particular event!
What are your day to day responsibilities?
Answering the phone and responding to email enquiries. Planning staff for upcoming gigs, checking stock levels and ordering replenishments, planning for the future and looking at new business opportunities.
How long have you worked at EJ?
I joined the EJ team in February 2018.
What do you enjoy most about working at EJ?
The fact that every day and every event is different! Each one brings a new set of challenges which keeps my job interesting!
Have your previous job roles all been in the catering/hospitality industry?
Yes I have worked in the hospitality and events industry in the past, my roles include Conference Officer at Cardiff University and an Event Manager at Celtic Manor.
If you were to put together a three course meal, which dishes would you choose?
Hmm tough! I love pickled and roasted beets in a walnut and goats cheese salad to start, probably a seabass or salmon dish for main with roasted garlic potatoes and Mediterranean vegetables, and for dessert a creamy lemon posset.
Which food do you think best describes your personality and why?
I love lots of different types of food! Mexican food is colourful, fresh and laidback – a bit like me!
