Andy Martin, 34, from Cwmbran, is EJ Catering’s newest Head Chef. We thought we’d catch up with the talented Andy to get to know him a bit more and find out what he’s most looking forward to about getting started with us. Here’s what he had to say…
So, tell us a little bit about your career so far.
I first worked as a butcher when I left school, then moved into cooking a few years later.
What made you want to work in the catering industry?
I love working with food. Working with other chefs, especially, is great fun!
What is your favourite food?
Foie gras, scallops, langoustine and rib eye steak are definitely some of my favourites.
What are your main responsibilities at EJ Catering?
As head chef, I’m mainly responsible for the production of the food and the activity of the kitchen.
What do you hope to bring to the EJ team?
Hopefully, I can bring a fresh pair of eyes and some new ideas. This is a new challenge for me and I hope to learn as well as give back knowledge in return, that’s what is important in the kitchen.
What’s been your favourite thing about working for the company so far?
I like the diversity of menus and locations.
And finally, what are you most looking forward to about your time with EJ Catering?
We get to play and create some great dishes here which can change from week to week, depending on who we are cooking for. Variety is the spice of life!
