18 Years of Trading, What a journey!

Did you know that this year we’ll have been trading for 18 years?!

To celebrate, we thought we’d put together a little throwback video and show you a few our favourite past-times…

We also caught up with our creative director, Emma Jenkins, to find out which events she thinks have been the wackiest and most memorable…

What was your favourite event?
In 2008 we won a True Taste of Wales award and had a great evening out, we joked that night that what we really wanted was to cater the event. The following year our wish came true and we catered for 450 people in the Abergavenny Market Hall for the 2009 True Taste Wales Awards. I had more chefs, more guests, more plates and more ovens than ever before. The nerves motivated us all, our main course service was complete in 17 minutes, and it moved us on as a company so much so that we continued to cater the awards for the following 3 years.

Can you remember some of your most creative menu dishes?
Over the years the fashions have changed, for one wedding in the very early days all the food was pink and we all dressed in pink too! Lately the more popular trends include picnic hampers, BBQ ongelts, knickerbocker glories and any anything old fashioned brought up to date.

What was your most memorable event?
The first wedding I ever catered for – Karen and James. 9 of my friends became the waiting team and we went into the unknown. We worked really hard, supported each other, had lots of fun and catered for 96 happy guests. I’m pleased to say I’m still catering all the family events to this day!

What was the most stressful event?
When we had to serve one hot plate of al dente pasta to 1200 people at Ironman Wales. Once under way the event was more exciting than stressful, but the build up and sheer quantity of food we had to prepare was immense. The night before the event I even dreamt about how much pasta I could fit into my wardrobe! Thankfully I woke up!

What is your biggest top tip for anyone wanting to cater an event?
Always prep in advance! It’s all in the planning and lists, if you’re not prepared then the event won’t run smoothly. I’m also a strong believer in cooking fresh produce on the day so that you can wow your guests with brand new flavours.
